The fast way to build a rank and rent site
To build a rank and rent site with Claude Code or Codex, copy the 1ClickWebsite skill file, connect your 1ClickWebsite API key, and ask your agent to create a complete WordPress website for one service and one market. Then use the same agent to improve the pages, check the technical setup, and work through your SEO plan.
That is the workflow I recommend if you want to get a proper local lead-generation site built quickly. 1ClickWebsite handles the initial WordPress build. Claude Code or Codex handles the instructions, research, and ongoing changes. You spend more of your time on the part that makes a rank and rent site valuable: attracting the right searches and turning them into qualified inquiries.
The skill is a Markdown file that tells your agent how to use 1ClickWebsite. You can open it and copy the whole file, or use the installation commands below. You do not need to write your own website-building integration.
Here is the process:
- Validate one service and one local market.
- Copy the 1ClickWebsite skill into Claude Code or Codex.
- Generate a complete WordPress site from a clear brief.
- Improve the pages that answer valuable local searches.
- Connect your domain, check indexing, and test lead tracking.
- Build authority, measure results, and find a business to serve the leads.
A fast build gives you an earlier starting point. Rankings still depend on the market, the quality of the site, and the work you do after launch.
What you are actually building
A rank and rent website is a site you own that attracts people searching for a local service. You arrange for a service provider to receive its qualified inquiries, usually through a rental or lead agreement.
For example, you might build a site that helps homeowners in a particular city request a fence installation quote. The asset includes the domain, useful service information, organic visibility, and a working inquiry process. Its value comes from the business it can generate.
Be clear about who operates the website and who performs the work. If you run a referral site, explain that relationship. Only use a contractor's name, work photos, qualifications, and testimonials with permission and factual support.
Why use 1ClickWebsite with your own AI agent?
For this workflow, 1ClickWebsite is my pick for the initial build because it creates the WordPress foundation in one process: the site, design, content, and requested service and service-area pages. The site creation API is available on every plan and a standard accepted build uses one normal site credit.
Claude Code or Codex can read the skill, submit that build, check its status, and help refine the finished site. You keep working in the AI tool you already use.
Use Full Site Creation in the skill for your ranking site. The separate Lead Gen workflow creates lightweight prospect mini-sites; choose the complete WordPress build for this tutorial.
| Tool | Its job |
|---|---|
| Claude Code or Codex | Follow your brief, research with available tools, and make site changes |
| 1ClickWebsite | Generate the complete WordPress website |
| Google Search Console | Show indexing status and Google search performance |
| Call and form tracking | Show which inquiries reach the business and qualify |
| LLM Sleuth, optionally | Check what AI answers mention and which sources they cite |
Claude Code and Codex are both usable here. Pick the one you prefer; the same 1ClickWebsite skill supports either workflow.
1. Validate the service and city first
Start with a specific customer need in a specific market. “Fence installation in [city]” is a clearer starting brief than “a home services website.”
Before buying a domain, answer four questions:
- Is there demand? Check service-plus-city searches and use keyword data to estimate interest. Keep volume estimates separate from observed searches and actual leads.
- Can you compete? Read the current organic results. Look at the quality of the service pages, local evidence, referring websites, and the mix of directories and contractors.
- Can you add something useful? Identify questions that existing pages leave unanswered, such as job scope, material choices, quote preparation, and the process after someone calls.
- Who can serve the customer? Identify real providers with the coverage, capacity, and interest to handle these inquiries.
A small city is not automatically easy. A low keyword-difficulty score is not enough to approve a market. Review the actual pages and what makes them credible.
Give your agent this research prompt:
Research a rank and rent opportunity for [service] in [city, region].
Use live search if available. Separate organic results, ads, and Maps.
List the leading organic pages with their URLs and the date checked.
Compare their service coverage, useful local information, trust evidence,
calls to action, and unanswered customer questions.
Propose one primary search intent and a small initial page plan.
Do not invent keyword volumes, backlink metrics, or ranking difficulty.
Label estimates and list the data you still need.
If you cannot access live results, tell me what to check manually.Use LLM Sleuth for an additional first check
LLM Sleuth lets you inspect answers, available generated searches, and cited sources across supported AI models. Try the kinds of questions a customer would ask, such as “How do I choose a fence installer in [city]?” or “What should I ask before requesting a fence installation quote?”
Save the question, date, models, mentioned businesses, and source URLs. Open the sources and look for information you can cover more clearly with your own verified evidence.
Treat this as a separate view of AI search visibility. It does not establish Google rankings, local search volume, or whether a niche is profitable. Use it alongside the actual search results and repeat the same questions later to compare changes.
2. Copy the 1ClickWebsite skill into your agent
Open the complete 1ClickWebsite API skill. Copy everything, including the opening metadata between the three-dash lines, into a file named SKILL.md.
Save that file in the folder for your agent:
| Agent | Project skill location | Invoke it with |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Code | .claude/skills/oneclickwebsite-api/SKILL.md | /oneclickwebsite-api |
| Codex | .agents/skills/oneclickwebsite-api/SKILL.md | $oneclickwebsite-api |
These paths follow the current Claude Code skill documentation and OpenAI skill documentation. Put the file in the project you open with your agent.
Install it in Claude Code
On macOS or Linux, run this from your project folder:
mkdir -p .claude/skills/oneclickwebsite-api
curl --fail --location https://www.1clickwebsite.ai/ai-agent-guide \
--output .claude/skills/oneclickwebsite-api/SKILL.mdThen ask Claude Code:
/oneclickwebsite-api
Read this skill and tell me what you need to create a complete
WordPress rank and rent site. Do not create the site yet.Install it in Codex
From your project folder:
mkdir -p .agents/skills/oneclickwebsite-api
curl --fail --location https://www.1clickwebsite.ai/ai-agent-guide \
--output .agents/skills/oneclickwebsite-api/SKILL.mdThen ask Codex:
$oneclickwebsite-api
Read this skill and tell me what you need to create a complete
WordPress rank and rent site. Do not create the site yet.If the skill does not appear, start a new session in that project. You can also paste the full skill into your agent's conversation for a single task; saving it makes the instructions reusable.
Connect your account
Create an account key on the 1ClickWebsite API Keys page. Store it in a trusted local environment or secret store, and tell your agent where it can read it. Keep the key out of the skill file and your website.
You need a 1ClickWebsite account with an available site credit, access to your chosen AI coding tool, and permission for that agent to make network requests. The skill contains the API instructions; your account supplies access to the builder.
3. Build the complete WordPress site
Give the agent a brief that separates verified facts from content you still need. Supply the brand, primary service, city, genuine service coverage, contact destination, and a description of how the referral or service process works.
Here is a reusable build prompt. Replace every bracketed item before sending it:
Use the oneclickwebsite-api skill and its Full Site Creation workflow
to create one complete V2 WordPress site using my 1ClickWebsite account.
Use my securely stored account API key. Never print it.
Brand: [brand name I own]
Site purpose: [referral service or actual service provider]
Primary service: [service]
Primary market: [city, region, country]
Verified service coverage: [areas]
Services: [services genuinely available through the provider]
Contact destination: [working phone and email]
Public street address: [verified address, or no public address]
Verified business facts: [facts]
Design direction: [style, colors, and preferences]
Create a homepage, service pages for distinct customer needs,
an about page, and a contact page. Only create service-area pages
where we can provide useful, distinct local information.
Explain accurately who operates this site and who delivers the work.
Do not invent reviews, licenses, offices, experience, prices,
response times, completed projects, or business hours.
Use Full Site Creation, not a Lead Gen mini-site.
Save the site ID. Check progress until the build is complete or failed.
Return the preview URL, build status, warnings, and a review checklist. The agent can use the skill to create the site and monitor the result. Build duration varies with the request and queue; a reachable preview can appear before all generation has finished. Review the final status and any warnings before treating the first draft as complete.
Then click through the site yourself. Check the navigation, service claims, images, contact details, and mobile experience. Remove any unsupported claims or template filler before launch.
Give the agent editing access
Creating a site and editing its WordPress content use different credentials. For ongoing edits, provide the site URL, a suitable WordPress username, and a WordPress application password through your trusted credential setup.
Follow the external AI agent connection guide to create that access. The site editing documentation explains the available content, design, page, and SEO controls.
You can then ask for specific improvements: “Make the quote form easier to use on mobile,” “Add the provider's verified service coverage,” or “Update the title and description on the fence repair page.”
4. Improve the pages you want to rank
Give each important page a clear job. The homepage can introduce the overall service and primary market. Separate service pages should answer distinct needs. Supporting articles should help people make a decision and link to the relevant service.
An illustrative fence-service site might start with this structure:
| Page | Customer need | Useful content to add |
|---|---|---|
| Home | Find fence help in the main city | Coverage, service summary, how requests work, clear contact action |
| Fence installation | Plan a new fence | Materials, project process, quote factors, verified work examples |
| Fence repair | Fix an existing fence | Common repair situations, what information to send, repair versus replacement considerations |
| Service area | Check whether an area is served | Actual coverage and distinct information relevant to that location |
| About | Understand who is behind the site | Operator identity, provider relationship, honest background |
| Contact | Request help | Working form and phone, what happens next, who receives the inquiry |
This is a starting plan, not a required page count. Merge pages that would answer the same question with the same information.
Add evidence your competitors cannot copy from a prompt
Your strongest additions often come from the provider: original project photos, explanations of real jobs, answers to common customer questions, and practical details about how quotes are prepared.
For the installation page, ask what changes the scope of a job. Does old fencing need removal? What should a homeowner photograph? Which material options does the provider actually offer? Turn those answers into useful copy and attribute expert input accurately.
An AI agent can organize this material, make it easier to read, and place it into the right sections. Give it facts to work with.
Review [page URL] for the search intent [service + city].
Use the attached verified business facts and provider notes.
Identify questions a customer needs answered before requesting a quote.
Draft improvements that add useful information and remove repetition.
Suggest a descriptive title, one clear main heading, a useful meta
description, and relevant links to existing pages.
Keep claims within the evidence. Mark missing facts for me to supply.
Do not rewrite other pages or create new city pages automatically.Keep location pages useful
Create a location page when there is a reason for a customer in that area to use it. Actual coverage, relevant project examples, and locally specific service information can give the page a purpose. Swapping city names through otherwise identical copy does little for the visitor.
Google's spam policies address doorway pages and scaled content created to manipulate rankings. Its guidance on AI content emphasizes accuracy, relevance, and added value. Review what you publish, including generated metadata and image descriptions.
5. Check the site before you send traffic
Connect your own domain and audit the public version. A polished preview is only the beginning of a working lead-generation asset.
Ask your agent to check the following and provide the affected URLs:
- Important pages load successfully and work on mobile.
- Production pages intended for search are crawlable and have no accidental noindex setting.
- Canonical URLs and internal links use the correct final domain.
- The sitemap contains the intended public URLs.
- Titles, headings, and descriptions accurately describe each page.
- Structured data matches the real operator and visible page content.
- Images load, have useful descriptions where appropriate, and do not unnecessarily slow the page.
- Forms deliver inquiries to the correct destination, and phone links call the correct number.
Connect Google Search Console, submit the sitemap, and inspect your main URLs. Use PageSpeed Insights to identify performance issues worth fixing. Neither a sitemap submission nor a high performance score guarantees rankings.
Before launch, make a test call and send a test form submission. Confirm receipt with the person handling inquiries. A lead counter is not enough if nobody receives the message.
Understand the Google Business Profile boundary
Organic website results and Google Maps listings have different requirements. Google explicitly lists lead-generation agents and companies as ineligible for a Business Profile.
Do not create a fictional contractor or office to obtain a listing. If you also help a real eligible service business manage its profile, represent that business accurately and with its authorization. Plan an independent referral site's acquisition around channels it can actually use.
6. Build authority after launch
Once the essential pages work, give people a reason to discover and reference the site. Useful content and real relationships take more effort than generating another batch of pages, but they also give you something distinct to offer.
My starting priorities would be:
- Publish a useful resource informed by the provider, such as a quote-preparation checklist or an explanation of material choices.
- Add original project examples where you have permission and enough detail to make them useful.
- Introduce relevant resources to local publishers, community organizations, or related businesses when they fit that audience.
- Review competitor referring pages to understand which real relationships or resources earned attention.
- Keep the operator's identity and contact information consistent wherever the site is listed.
Use your agent to find relevant opportunities and draft material. Review the sites, relationships, and messages yourself. Buying bulk links or manufacturing reviews is a poor foundation for a site you want to keep.
Work on a manageable set of valuable pages first. Expand the site when you have another customer need to answer, evidence to add, or search data that justifies the new page.
7. Measure qualified leads and improve the site
Track the path from search to business outcome. A useful weekly review connects search visibility with the pages people visit, the inquiries they submit, and the jobs a provider can actually take.
| Signal | What to investigate |
|---|---|
| Important page is not indexed | Crawl access, index settings, canonical choice, discovery, and content quality |
| Relevant impressions are rising | Which queries and pages are gaining visibility |
| Impressions without many clicks | Position, search intent, and whether the title accurately presents a useful answer |
| Visits without inquiries | Page usefulness, service fit, contact visibility, and form friction |
| Inquiries that do not qualify | Wrong geography, wrong service, spam, or confusing promises |
| Qualified leads without booked work | Response time, provider availability, follow-up, and offer fit |
Export Search Console query and page data, then give your agent this prompt:
Review this Search Console export and the attached lead report.
Use comparable date ranges and account for small sample sizes.
Separate indexing issues, search visibility, click-through,
website conversion, and lead-quality problems.
Choose the three page improvements most worth testing next.
For each, show the supporting data, proposed change, and metric
we should review. Do not claim causation from a short-term change.Keep a simple change log so you know what changed and when. Google's SEO Starter Guide explains that search effects can take time and that no technique guarantees first place. Set your work schedule around learning from results.
Rent the site around demonstrated value
Speak with potential providers while you research the market. Once inquiries start arriving, use actual service fit, location, lead quality, and booking feedback to evaluate the arrangement.
Define what counts as a qualified lead, who receives it, how missed calls are handled, what reporting is shared, and what happens when the relationship ends. A fixed rental and a per-lead arrangement distribute risk differently; choose terms both sides understand.
For a broader software comparison, see the rank and rent tools guide. If you prefer building websites directly for business owners, follow the local business website guide for Claude Code or Codex and the small-business website sales playbook.
A practical first 30 days
Use this as a work plan, not a ranking deadline.
| Period | Main work | Deliverable |
|---|---|---|
| Days 1–3 | Validate demand, review competitors, speak with potential providers | One market brief and a focused page plan |
| Days 4–7 | Install the skill, generate the site, review facts and design | Complete WordPress site ready for final setup |
| Week 2 | Add original information, connect the domain, test tracking and indexing setup | Public site with verified contact delivery |
| Week 3 | Improve core service pages and pursue relevant discovery opportunities | Better pages and a documented promotion process |
| Week 4 | Review early indexing, search data, and any inquiries | A short, evidence-based list of next improvements |
If a tool can remove hours of setup, take that advantage. Put the saved time into the market research, provider relationships, and content that give the site a reason to exist.
Frequently asked questions
Can Claude Code build a rank and rent website?
Yes. With the 1ClickWebsite skill, account access, and the necessary tool permissions, Claude Code can request a complete WordPress build and check its progress. With separate WordPress editing credentials, it can also help change content, design, and SEO fields.
Can I use Codex instead of Claude Code?
Yes. Save the same skill at .agents/skills/oneclickwebsite-api/SKILL.md in your project and invoke it with $oneclickwebsite-api. The business brief and build process are the same.
Do I need to write code?
You can copy the skill file and describe the site in plain language. Your agent handles the documented API workflow. You still need to connect your accounts, supply accurate information, review the result, and make the business decisions.
Is the skill file free?
The skill file is publicly accessible. Creating a site requires an eligible 1ClickWebsite account with a site credit. Your AI tool, domain, hosting arrangement, and any additional research or tracking services may have separate costs; check your chosen plans.
Will an AI-built rank and rent site rank on Google?
It can be built to support search visibility, but generation alone does not establish rankings. Focus on useful content, accurate claims, a working site, and a market you can compete in. Evaluate results with Search Console and qualified-lead reporting.
How many pages should I start with?
Start with enough pages to explain the core offer and answer distinct customer needs. A homepage, a few substantial service pages, and clear about and contact pages can be a sensible first version. Add location pages only when you can make them useful and accurate.
How quickly can I build the site?
1ClickWebsite automates the initial WordPress build, which makes getting a first version much faster than assembling every page manually. Total launch time depends on the build, your content review, domain setup, and tracking checks. Search growth follows its own timeline.
Start with the skill file
Copy the 1ClickWebsite skill, open Claude Code or Codex, and give it one clear service-and-city brief. Build the first version, make the important pages useful, and verify that inquiries reach the right person.
That gets you to the work that matters: earning relevant visibility and proving the site can produce qualified leads.
